2001

2001 will always be remembered for the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the USA.  Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives that day and the repercussions are still being felt throughout the world.

For me, 2001 was also a year of enormous personal loss.  My father died in the May of that year.  As someone who had a great interest in world events, I’m always conscious of the fact that he died never knowing about this terrible, momentous day in history.  And when I think of my own grief, I’m aware that every single one of those 3,000 lives cut short left a gap that’s just as keenly felt by their loved ones.
