Summer of Love
1967 was the summer of love when 10,000, mostly young, people gathered in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco to cast off the conservative morals of the time and experiment with drugs.
In Britain it was the year two significant Acts were passed through Parliament. The Abortion Act made abortion legal under certain circumstances and the Sexual Offences Act 1967 legalised homosexual acts between consenting adults age of 21 and over.
It was also the year Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was released.
